HOSTILE

How To Honor God In A Hostile Home, Workplace And World.

Part 1: Joseph – Blessed Hostility.

Blessed Hostility

Matthew 5v11-12 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Hostility Ground Rules

-We cannot assume that everyone else believes like we do.

-Prayer at the beginning of an event doesn’t magically make it Christian, or blessed.

-Forcing religion down people’s throats only serves to make them resent us more.

-Being knocked out of our place of cultural privilege stings, but causes us to weigh what it means to live for Jesus in our work, homes and friendships in 2024.

-Believers make the greatest impact when we manifest Jesus in our everyday interactions and environments.

Joseph’s Story (Found in Genesis 37-47.)

Joseph’s Tests: The test of humility. The test of character. The test of lust (pleasure).  The test of waiting. The test of power.

Character: Grown or God’s gift? (A bit of both!)

Joseph proves his Godly character: Genesis 45 v5-8.

Thrive In Hostility.

2Peter 1v3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

“With Jesus, I have everything I need to thrive.”
