The Fruit Of Love Part 1 Gal 5 v22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV) The Fruit of The Spirit. John 15 v1,2,5,8; Galatians 5 v22-23 The Truth About Fruit Fruit of the SPIRIT – NOT called the fruit of “trying really hard to be good people.” The FRUIT of the Spirit are not the GIFTS AND OFFICES of the Holy Spirit. Believers can exercise completely different gifts but we should all exhibit the same fruit. Paul lists the gifts of the Spirit in contrast to the fruit of a life being lived according to our sinful nature. The works of the flesh are “obvious” around us (Galatians 5v17-21) …The fruit of the Spirit in our lives is a sign that we are walking with the Spirit. JOY is Love Exalted Proverbs 10 v28; Hebrews 12 v2, 1 Peter 1 v8-9 Our brains were meant to run on joy! We were made by God to operate in joy. Joy comes from hoping in something higher out there, and accomplishing things for that cause. The joy of the Lord is your strength. PEACE is Love at Rest This world is crying out for peace, but they have rejected the Prince of Peace. Peace consists not in the absence of danger, but in the presence of God. The peace that the Holy Spirit gives is powerful. In an anxious world we can be a non-anxious presence. The fruit of peace in our lives comes from God living inside of us, not circumstances outside us. LONG-SUFFERING is Love Enduring. God uses “holy delays” to teach us patience. Fruit of the Spirit blossom when we lean on Jesus through ADVERSITY. True Holy Spirit patience is waiting without worrying. Patience is basically love that endures and doesn’t give up. GENTLENESS is Love in Community. Romans 2v4; Titus 3v4-5 Gentleness = kindness. It’s living out the golden rule! Kindness is a subtle invitation for people to share in the riches of Christ’s love. Kindness can save people. Kindness makes a person beautiful. A kind Christian is a contagious Christian.
